WHAT IS PROP 444?

Proposition 444 is not a tax increase. It will allow Phoenix residents to control local spending as they have been doing for nearly 4 decades by extending “home rule.”

Home rule allows charter cities in Arizona to enact their own expenditure limitations.

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE YES

CHAIR AND FORMER COUNCILMEMBER DANIEL VALENZUELA

A ‘yes’ vote protects our systems and services.  As a first responder myself, I know that now, more than ever, our residents rely on us maintaining at least their current level of services.  The COVID-19 pandemic is straining our families and communities."

MAYOR KATE GALLEO

Without passage of proposition 444, Phoenix will be forced to make drastic budget reductions to the tune of $1.3 billion. Now is not the time to make cuts, now is the time to invest so that our Phoenix community can come back stronger than ever.”

CONGRESSMAN GREG STANTON

“If we want to maintain the Phoenix we have built and maintain our forward progress, we must approve Proposition 444. Without a 'yes' vote on 444, our citizens’ hands will be tied.  They will have no resources to meet growing needs or fund bold new initiatives."

FORMER MAYOR SKIP RIMSZA

“Failure to pass Proposition 444 will threaten the progress we have made.  Without home rule, our spending must be capped to a state-imposed limit based on 1979-80 spending levels.  In practical terms, that means the city would have to cut $1.3 billion from its current budget levels.

FORMER MAYOR SKIP RIMSZA
VOTE YES ON 444

Without a YES vote on 444, Phoenix's funding would be reduced to 1979-1980 state imposed funding levels.

As a result, the city budget would be reduced by $1.3 billion dollars, drastically cutting our city services.

That's why Phoenix voters have voted YES on home rule nine times before.

Vote YES on 444 -- it's a no brainer.
